A virtual test will be required to get a driver’s license in Dubai

Soon, another mandatory exam will be added for applicants in Dubai - a virtual test of driving on the busiest highways of the city.

According to the Dubai Road and Transport Authority, in 2016, to get a driver’s license, it will be mandatory to take a virtual test on busy motorways like Sheikh Zayed Road.

The virtual test equipment, recognized to enhance the driving skills of novice drivers, was unveiled at the GITEX Technology Week in Dubai last Sunday.

Since driving training is forbidden to travel to the central highways, beginners will have the opportunity to feel like drivers of a busy highway.

In preparation for the new test, students will take a course of lectures, as well as driving practice on a car simulator.

In addition, the Office plans to introduce driving culture lessons in order to educate drivers on the principles of civilized driving behavior.

In 2014, irresponsible driving caused 159 deaths on Dubai's roads. Also, according to the results of the past year, out of 1.3 million drivers in the emirate, only 18,000, or 1 out of 70, did not commit traffic violations.
