Two Dubai Metro trains delivered to Dubai

Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the receipt of the first batch of trains for the Dubai Metro under construction.

Two trains, consisting of ten cars each, and driven by locomotives controlled by computers, rather than drivers, arrived from Japan ahead of schedule: a test run of trains on a designated area in the Jebel Ali area is scheduled for May this year. According to RTA Chairman Mattar Al Tahir, five wagons have already been delivered to the Jebel Ali FEZ station, from where the 11-kilometer stretch stretches to the Ibn Battuta Mall. The metro line sector intended for testing is already connected to an electrical substation. It is assumed that metro trains in this section will reach speeds of up to 90 km / h.

Last Friday, one of the cars was installed on the rail for technical tests. Tests of trains, consisting of two phases - static and dynamic, will begin on May 15. According to the assurances of the developers and metro builders, the moving trains of the Dubai metro will be completely silent and will not produce even the smallest vibration. Recall that the commercial operation of the first phase of the Dubai metro will begin on September 9, 2008. The total project cost is estimated at 4.2 billion US dollars.
