Russia takes care of compatriots, including in the UAE

The first conference of representatives of Russian diasporas in two dozen countries of the Middle East and Africa was held in Cairo on June 27-28 with the participation of a delegate from Russian compatriots living in the Emirates.
The purpose of the conference, in which Alexander Chepurin, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry Department for Work with Compatriots, the Russian Ambassador to Egypt Mikhail Bogdanov, Deputy Director of the Moscow House of Compatriots Alexei Esipenko, took part, was to establish ties with Russian compatriots abroad, exchange information and experience of unity abroad Russian-speaking citizens, identifying the needs of compatriot colonies in their host countries and establishing their interaction with official circles in Russia.
The main areas of this activity were determined at the World Congress of Compatriots, which was held last year in St. Petersburg with the participation of the general manager of the Russian Emirates company Sergey Tokarev, who was later elected chairman of the Coordinating Council for work with compatriots living in the UAE.
According to Alexander Chepurin, the task of his department is to organize a regular dialogue between compatriots and their historical homeland, to promote dialogue between compatriots themselves within the framework of the organizations they create, to preserve the Russian-speaking space, to more actively connect Russian regions and businesses to this work.
At the conference, it was noted that the Roszarubezhtsentr representative offices at the Russian Foreign Ministry are already working in more than 70 countries. In the United Arab Emirates, where there is no such representative office, communication with the department headed by Alexander Chepurin will be carried out through the Russian Embassy, ​​the Russian Consulate General in Dubai and the Coordination Council.
Conference delegates adopted a resolution calling on the Government of the Russian Federation to take measures to simplify the procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship by immigrants from the USSR and their direct descendants, to facilitate the resolution of visa issues for Russian compatriots and their families, to expand the operation of the State Program to Assist Voluntary Resettlement in the Russian Federation compatriots living abroad in all Russian regions.
It is also proposed the creation of children's linguistic camps and the simplification of the system of admission of compatriots' children to Russian universities.
The conference organizers confirmed their readiness to assist the Russian diaspora in providing literature, textbooks and films. The possibility of providing medical care to urgently needing compatriots on the recommendation of the Russian Embassy in the respective country is specifically stipulated. Assurances are made that the scale of assistance to compatriots will grow.
