Emirates will launch “virtual windows” in new first-class salons

Emirates from the United Arab Emirates showcased the interior of its new first-class cabins inspired by the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Emirates Airlinesbased in Dubai, has unveiled a new first-class cabin interior from the Mercedes-Benz S-Class for its Boeing 777 aircraft. The update also applies to luxury luxury apartments.

The new first-class cabins on Emirates Boeing 777-300ER aircraft are 2 meters in length, and the sliding doors reach a height of about 2 meters. They are equipped with panoramic windows and 32-inch high-definition screens.

In addition, the private apartments are complemented by "virtual windows" that convey real-time outside views.

Speaking to reporters at Dubai Airshow, Emirates President Sir Tim Clarke said new interiors are the beginning of a collaboration between Emirates and Mercedes Benz.

"I have always been a fan of ... how they manage to use the space in such a way that it continues to be superb and exciting," he said.

The aircraft with updated salons appeared in a new advertising campaign with Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson.

Clark noted that despite the global downturn, first-class demand remains "very high" on Emirates flights.

Aircraft with new cabins will first be launched on routes to Brussels and Geneva. According to Clark, in the future their geography will be significantly expanded, for example, to Chicago and Brisbane. In the end, upgraded first-class cabins will take their seats on all Emirates aircraft.

Emirates also announced that the business-class seats on the new 777 aircraft are being modified and inspired by the interior of a modern sports car, while the economy-class seats will receive leather head restraints and flexible side panels that can be adjusted.

Emirates Airlines is the world's largest operator of the Boeing 777 aircraft.
