Over 600 cyberattacks detected in UAE during the first 10 months of the year

Private and government agencies in the UAE suffered 600 cyber attacks in 2017.

During the first 10 months of 2017, 615 cyber attacks against UAE enterprises were recorded.

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) says the largest number of attacks was recorded in January (136), 133 of which target government sites.

The attacks identified by the TRA Information Emergency Response Team during the first quarter reached 289, accounting for 47 percent of the total number of attacks this year, the state-owned news agency WAM said.

In February, 114 attacks were recorded, 86 of which targeted private sites and 23 to government departments, while in March a total of 39 attacks were recorded, 21 of which focused on private sites, and 18 on government sites.

TRA conducts information campaigns, including lectures, seminars and workshops to raise awareness of cybersecurity, urging all departments to have backup databases.
