A man detained in the UAE for a crime 10 years ago

In Abu Dhabi, a man is accused of robbery and assault on a woman, which he committed 10 years ago.

The man, who was convicted in absentia in 2008 in the case of an attack on a woman and robbery in Abu Dhabi, was detained at the capital's airport, where he made a transplant.

10 years ago, the accused, along with his three friends, appropriated the victim’s bag and mobile phone, and then disappeared. The criminals also took a picture of the woman on the phone before escaping.

Later, a woman filed an application for a 15-year-old criminal, but it turned out that he had already left the country.

All participants in the crime were sentenced to 10 years in prison in absentia. The court also ordered the 15-year-old accused to be sent to a juvenile detention center, since he was under 18 at that time.

Recently, a young man was spotted in the transit hall at Abu Dhabi Airport. He was waiting for departure to go to study at an American university.

The security service detained him. Now he faces the charge of committing a crime 10 years ago.

In court, the young man denied all charges against him, stressing that he does not remember that he would harm anyone in the UAE.

The lawyer claimed that his client was too young at the time and could not commit a crime against a woman.
