In 2017, 3,014 people representing 69 nationalities converted to Islam in the UAE.

In 2017, more than 3 thousand foreign citizens residing in the United Arab Emirates decided to convert to Islam.

This figure is also a merit of the Dar Al Ber Society, the purpose of which is to promote moderate, tolerant and authentic Islamic teachings.

Employees of the Islamic Information Center in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah supported the new ministers of the faith, educating them on Islamic issues.

"2,785 people became Muslims in the main center located in Dubai, and 229 people took faith in the center in Ras Al Khaimah," said the director of the center, Rashid Al Junaybi.

Mr. Al Junaibi added that the center is mainly engaged in promoting tolerant Islamic culture in friendly, non-aggressive ways, based on the principles of the country's sensitive leadership.

"During the year we carry out special programs aimed at raising the awareness of residents about Islam, organize various events in support of new Muslims, telling them about the basics of religion," Mr. Al Junaibi said.

The director of the center explained that the programs are open for both men and women.

"Residents of the UAE who have converted to Islam represent 69 nationalities, six continents, including: 17 countries in Asia, 15 countries in Africa, 27 countries in Europe, 2 countries in North America, 7 countries in South America and Australia."

Last year, the Islamic Information Center organized 3,798 religious and cultural lectures for foreigners.

According to Mr. Al Junaybi, the center’s staff answered over a million cultural questions in more than 20 languages across the country.

"The center’s employees worked at 150 sites, mostly visited by foreigners: in museums, shopping centers, bus stops and metro stations."

Mr. Al Junaibi said that to confirm the authenticity of the acceptance of faith, new Muslims are issued a single certificate issued jointly by the Dubai Courts and the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai.
