Abu Dhabi lighted fire of Special Olympics

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the ruler of Dubai lit the fire of the 2019 Special Olympics.

Sheikh Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander-in-Chief and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, attended the Special Olympics World Lighting Games.

The ceremony was held a few days before the start of the Special Olympics in the capital of the UAE and marked the beginning of the implementation of three dozen special programs in the field of sports, education, health, culture and quality of life.

“Our task is to make efforts to expand horizons for people with disabilities. Creating a perfect society requires the contribution of all its members, and they are an important part of this society. We wish them a bright future,” Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed tweeted. .

Sheikh Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan also signed a document, which speaks of promoting the integration of people with disabilities into society.

The culmination of the ceremony was the lighting in a special bowl of fire of the Special Olympics with the help of the symbolic Torch of Hope obtained from the hands of the Paralympic people, who had already visited many parts of the United Arab Emirates.

Recall, the World Special Olympics - games for people with intellectual disabilities will start in Abu Dhabi on March 14, 2019. The competition will bring together 154 athletes from 27 regions of Russia. In total, more than 7 thousand athletes from 190 countries of the world will participate in a large-scale sporting event, who will compete in 24 sports.
