According to the results of the year, the UAE roads were recognized as the best in the world, according to the report on global competitiveness prepared by the World Economic Forum. The road quality indicator also includes railways, ports and air transport.
This achievement was the result of the implementation of complex infrastructure projects in the UAE that meets international standards, as part of the UAE government's vision for 2021 to turn the UAE into one of the leading countries in the world.
Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, head of the Department of Public Works, noted that the wise actions of the state’s leadership “allow us to achieve the best for both UAE citizens and expatriates.” He also said that the indicator of road quality includes not only an assessment of technical aspects, but also the degree of support for further economic development in terms of ensuring international trade in the country by a network of roads.
