Abu Dhabi Classic 2015-2016

The best classical music performers will visit the emirate again as part of the Abu Dhabi Classic 2015-2016 festival.
The music program of the 2014-2015 season was held under the motto of travel and the literary genre of "Rila" as a tribute to the spirit of Abu Dhabi. The 2015-2016 season will pay close attention to the cultural heritage of the emirate and its proximity to poetry. Thus, the theme of the season 2015-2016 will be the relationship and mutual interspersing of oral poetic words and music.

The festival will again attract not only the most famous performers of classical music, but also the most promising young musicians. Opening the doors for Asian groups, "Abu Dhabi Classic 2015-2016" in May 2016 awaits the visit of the famous Chinese Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by maestro Long Yu.

The highlight of the program will be a tour of the emirate of the Spanish musician Jordi Saval with the work "Creation Ibn Battuta Traveler of Islam". In November 2015, he will perform under the canopy of the trees of Mushrif Park and in the Liva oasis. The Birmingham Symphony Orchestra will return to the festival to perform the famous 7th Beethoven Symphony at the Emirates Palace. Fort Al Jahili (Al Ain) will host a stunning evening of soundtracks from the James Bond movie saga.

In January, Abu Dhabi will be honored to receive a star band from the Iberian Peninsula - the Galicia Symphony Orchestra, which will give two brilliant concerts. Spectators will hear the unrivaled 6th Symphony (“Tragic”) by Gustav Mahler and Manuel de Fall's Suite “Nights in the Gardens of Spain” - a tribute to the Arab past of Spain.

A few weeks later, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain will see for the first time a living legend of classical music, Argentine pianist Marta Argerich, who will perform with virtuoso violinist Gidon Kremer and his Baltic string orchestra Kremerata Baltika.

In March 2016, the world-famous Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra will give three concerts in which Beethoven's symphonies and modern music will be performed, including the world premiere of the famous French composer Bruno Mantovani. Such famous soloists as the French cellist Gauthier Capuson, the German violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann and the famous German conductor Christoph Eschenbach will arrive at the concerts. Having served as the basis for the musical program, the theme of poetry and music will become central in a series of concerts at which poems will be performed to musical accompaniment. The concerts will be attended by such famous poets as the Syrian Adonis and the Hindu Gulzar, as well as the virtuoso of playing the oud Nasir Shamm and the German baritone Matthias Guerne. A multitude of events will complete the international and prestigious music program: the Abu Dhabi Classics Awards awarding ceremony in February 2016, a series of chamber music evenings featuring the Belgrade Philharmonic String Quartet, and the Night of Classical Indian Dance. The eventful program of the festival will strengthen the reputation of Abu Dhabi as a popular center of culture and art.
