He set a goal to measure the ocean, To soften il to curb the elements, a moody temper, Deep Neptune bed to study ... The nature of the mystery to reveal everything And return with a full hold of facts.

SUCH A MESSAGE IN VERSES, THE BRITISH HUMORISTIC MAGAZINE "PUNCH" NAVATED THE FAMOUS EXPEDITION OF THE "CHALLENGE" OF 1873. SCIENTISTS TRAVELED, STUDYED THE LIFE FORMS OF THE MARINE KINGDOM, AND DAYS AND DRAWINGS OF SEAFARERS HAVE BASED FOR CREATION OF A COLLECTION OF BEAUTIFUL "YORELEN" IRIS ".

Jewelers H. Stern in their works seek to reflect the eternal beauty of nature. They were inspired by heaven, birds, earth, and this time - the kingdom of the mythical sea king Poseidon. The new Iris collection is dedicated to the underwater world. The ancient Greek goddess Irida, the messenger of the gods, who delivered their messages with the speed of the wind across the earth and to the depths of the sea, became the muse of the masters.

Jewel reflects the ocean

The sketches obtained by sailors during the Challenger expedition became the material that jewelers used in their work, skillfully recreating the amazing life of the ocean, its vast expanses, the richness of fauna and color palette in precious metals. The designers' imagination gave beauty simple, concise and at the same time luxurious jewelry, based on 18-carat yellow, pink and "Noble" gold exclusive to H. Stern.

Each product is created by hand, with special care and attention to detail. Some samples of the collection reflect the Victorian era, during which a sea expedition was completed.

Tourmaline Box

The story of H. Stern began in the last century. Fifteen-year-old boy Hans Stern, the future founder of the company, emigrated with his family from Nazi Germany to Brazil. Once he was so fascinated by the game of the colored minerals that the land of Latin America gives birth to, he became a dreamer and decided: we need to show the whole world that Brazil is good not only in football and samba, but also in the creation of jewelry.

Hans Stern's first love was tourmaline. He looked for stones with different ebbs and shapes and put them in a treasured box. Today, a collection with tourmalines, in which more than a thousand copies, can be seen in the H. Stern Museum in Rio de Janeiro.

The principles of honest jewelers

We were lucky to meet one of the sons of the founder of the brand Ronaldo. Together with his brother Ricardo, he carries the family banner of H. Stern.

Ronaldo Stern admits that the brand reflects both German pedantry in terms of high quality jewelry and a free, sensual Brazilian aesthetic.

“The company loves the cold brilliance of diamonds and the joyful, warm light of semiprecious amethysts and aquamarines. We believe that there are no semiprecious stones, nor can there be a half honest person,” Ronaldo said in a conversation with us.

He emphasized that H. Stern buys diamonds and other precious stones from trusted dealers who have a certificate confirming their activities in the Kimberley Process. The document guarantees that the stones were not obtained as a result of the use of violence, violation of human rights or methods that caused damage to the environment. “I hope that in this way we set an example for other jewelry brands,” said Ronaldo Stern. “We call for responsibility in the development of the bowels of the planet.”

Someone once compared H. Stern jewelry with their flowing lines and a Brazilian woman's gait, swaying her hips while walking. Indeed, there is something in this comparison!

In parting words, the smiling and friendly Ronaldo advised us to definitely come to Brazil and visit Bonito, Fernando di Noronha and the Igiasu Falls. And, of course, not only buy jewelry, but also enjoy culinary delights in the hospitable restaurant "Eca" in the center of Rio de Janeiro, in the building of one of the boutiques H. Stern.
