In the UAE, a hundred artificial grottoes were installed in the sea

In the UAE, one hundred artificial grottoes were installed as part of a program to improve the artificial habitat in the country's waters.

On April 28, the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Protection, together with Delma Marine Industrial Supply & Marine Services, installed 100 artificial grottoes in the immediate vicinity of the fishing harbor in the coastal area of Jumeirah, Dubai.

The installation of artificial grottoes is part of the first phase of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding, signed between the Ministry and Delma Marine in December last year, aimed at improving the artificial habitat in the waters of the UAE.

Artificial grottoes were called "Zayd Marine Reserves" in memory of the reverent attitude of the late Sheikh Zayed ibn Sultan Al Nahyan to nature. The installation of these grottoes will help ensure the sustainable development of the marine environment and increase the population of living aquatic organisms in the UAE.

Dr. Thani Ibn Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Head of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Protection and Major General Pilot Mohamed Ahmed Ibn Thani, Chairman of the Society for the Protection of Marine Reserves, attended the ceremony of laying down artificial grottoes.

Dr. Thani Ibn Ahmed Al Zeyudi said: “The first stage of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding with Delma Marine is carried out in accordance with the Ministry’s strategy to ensure the sustainability of the marine environment, stimulate research in the field of conservation of marine biological diversity, and build incubators for breeding fry in the coastal marine environment and increased fish stocks: This agreement seeks to strengthen partnerships between government and private firms and increase social responsiveness. property among private sector companies. "

He noted that the first stage includes the manufacture and installation of 100 artificial grottoes, and other grottoes will be installed in the future, the location of which will be determined later this year.
