Dubai Airports Test Paperless Travel System

Dubai's new paperless biometric system allows you to travel without passports.

Dubai, UAE. Dubai Airports is testing a new paperless biometric identification system that will allow passengers to travel from the check-in desk to the seat in the cabin without a passport, said Paul Griffiths, CEO.

He clarified that together with Emirates Airline they are working to completely switch from the traditional registration and passport control procedures to biometrics and face recognition technologies, which will reduce the time required to complete all procedures.

One ID has already been tested on flights from London to Dubai and will continue to be tested on flights to Australia. The “single identification” system will be used at check-in desks, passport control desks, duty-free shops, waiting rooms and in the boarding queue. None of these locations will require a passport or boarding pass.

It is worth recalling that Dubai International Airport is the busiest air hub in the world - last year it served 89.1 million passengers.
