Dubai police called for fear of cheap flights

Dubai police urges fear of scammers who "sell" airline tickets on social networks.

Dubai, UAE. In anticipation of a long weekend in honor of the religious holiday of Eid al-Adha, the Dubai police urged all residents to be wary of scammers who distribute free or cheap air tickets on social networks and the Internet.

"We ask everyone to purchase tickets and tours directly from the airline and licensed travel agencies to be sure that your money and rights are protected," law enforcement said on their page on the social network Twitter.

A warning came after a number of travelers reported on fictitious and unknown websites of travel agencies offering airline tickets and vacation packages around the world.

Among the popular scams with tickets is the offer to get a free ticket for reposting viral ads on social networks, redirecting to fake pages of tour operators and airlines on Facebook, fake confirmation of booking a flight to an email address and pop-ups on the Internet with a call to save on travel.

In most cases, scammers hunt for personal user data, including friend lists, passwords from personal pages and credit card information.
