In Dubai Orbit
Dubai is known for its passion for the self-made. Therefore, especially for the "city of the future" the eccentric Brit decided to build the world's largest pop-up installation called Arcs of Orbit. Inspired by the work of the pioneers of constructivism - Naum Gabo and Antoine Pevzner, Kirkwood focused on clear lines, new forms, sculpted heels and jacquard materials for the Fall-Winter 2014 season. Nicholas Kirkwood shoes were "planted" on the shelves of the "space" installation, like satellites from parallel worlds, and repeated the model of the solar system. By the way, Arcs of Orbit became part of the general Shoe Atelier exposition in the multi-brand store Level Shoe District, dedicated to the masterpieces of the modern shoe industry and its traditions. Here is what the designer himself says: "Dubai has its own peculiarity." I noticed that here they are very warm about jewelry techniques in the decor, as well as unusual, slightly graphic designs. Therefore, especially for the Level Shoe District boutique, I created four models of high-heeled shoes of different heights. Large stones crown their sock. "

Victoria's Secret underwear show everyone. Perhaps this is the most fascinating London fashion project. Kirkwood created 9 pairs of shoes for the 2014 show, as well as pop star Taylor Swift, who performed during the fashion show. Luxurious crystal inlaid sandals and open boots can now be bought online. When working with the pret-a-porter designer, it is very important to see the essence of his future collection and pass it on in his work. But most importantly, I should be interested. Ideas for the new collection.
I can’t say what it will be, but I can describe my thoughts about the collection a little ... Now I often listen to Depeche Mode and techno music of the late 80s. I like combining the incongruous, fighting temptation. For example, if the platform is heavy, then the heel should be ultra-thin. I am a big fan of deep colors - such as bright blue, so in the new collection I traditionally used suede and silk to convey colors just like on prototypes. I rarely use the skin, as it refracts color differently. At this stage, I want to read more, but I do not have enough time. I started reading The Goldfinch ("Goldfinch") by Donna Tartt, but settled on page 7. Let's see what happens".
